A global celebration of birds—and the people who follow their flight.
A flash of wings. A moment of stillness. That spark of wonder is where your journey begins.
The Bird Migration Gathering brings us to the same sky. Join the flock and feel the lift of shared curiosity
From your window, trail, journey, or memory, every birding story matters. Yours, especially.
Our membership isn't about noise, it's about shared depth. Like a murmuration, we rise together in rhythm.
Like the birds, we leave home, we adventure, but we return to the stories that tether us to place, purpose, and each other.
I’m the founder of Follow the Birds, a global movement devoted to connecting birders through story, migration, and meaning.
I’ve guided groups to Africa five times and spent three months living in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. But it’s only recently that I began seeing these places through the eyes of a birder. Now, I’m eager to revisit them—not just by memory, but by following the flight paths of birds that bridge these worlds.
The Bird Migration Gathering was born from this truth:
The birds are telling a global story. And so are we.
Day 1 Special Interactive Session: Live Session for Guided-Storytelling
Day 2 Special Interactive Session: Live Birding Trivia Game
Day 3 Special Interactive Session: Community Artist Roundtable
This Fall, join birders, scientists, artists, and storytellers from across the globe for a 3-day celebration of birds and the people who follow them.
You’ll experience:
Migration stories from every continent
Keynotes, artist spotlights, and guided reflections
A global community gathered by curiosity and care
We plan to:
Hear from experts tracking swifts from Colorado to Brazil.
Witness artists featuring birds in their art.
Share your own story of how one bird changed everything.
They connect mountains to mangroves, deserts to deltas.
When we follow their flight paths, we rediscover our shared humanity.
Kelly Miller, Founder and Community Curator.
My favorite migrating bird is the Black Swift. I first spotted this wide-eyed marvel behind a waterfall in Ouray, Colorado, near my home. As fledglings, they take their first flight straight off a cliff-face, through cascading water, and soar over 4,000 miles to the Amazon rainforest—a place they’ve never been.
Just days after meeting the Black Swift, I too was moving sight unseen to Brazil.
The Black Swift doesn't just migrate—it carries my story too. 💗
